Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh! Ship Olympics 2015! This is a team-based fanwork (fic, art, fanmixes, edits, etc.) producing challenge spanning from May to August.  Teams for each ship will post fanworks based on a prompt, and will be ranked depending on their entry.  Each prompt will be open for three weeks before being switched out with another.

Winning Teams get bragging rights for their otps and the joy of crushing their notps.

This is our first year doing this, and depending on how popular it gets, we might hold it around the same general time next year!


Rules:

You can nominate a ship here. Ships involving yugioh characters only. Crossover ships are restricted to other yugioh series.

For example,

Allowed: Yuuma Tsukumo/Yuuya Sakaki
Not allowed: Kaito Kuroba/Yuuya Sakaki

The exception applies to popular yugioh fanon characters eg. Heba, Jehu, Akefia. Emphasis on popular, your oc, more likely than not, won't be accepted.

Ship Teams

Team Sign Ups will open immediately after and close on May 15th 11:59 EST.

Ship Teams must consist of 1-7 members, however, if the amount of people signing up for a single ship exceeds 14, multiple teams for the same ship will be formed.

Each team will have a Team Captain, generally the first person to sign up the team (unless if they request otherwise). Team Captains will be responsible for choosing the works submitted an communicating with mods.

A team may submit a maximum of three entries for each prompt. New and original entries only. Any team found reposting someone else's work will be penalized for that round. This includes plagarism, art theft of all kinds, etc.

Entries must be submitted in the comments section of the prompt entry. If crossposting on tumblr or AO3, please tag it as #ygoshipolympics or submit it to our collection here.

The first prompt will be posted immediately after the Team Sign Ups cut-off and teams are free to start working immediately.

Definitely! You can nominate as many as you want. The only limit is that you can only join one ship team.

Is it possible for people to participate in teams if they don't have a Dreamwidth account?

A dreamwidth account isn't necessary. As such, anonymous commenting has been enabled for everything on this journal.

However, when signing up for a team, we do ask that you provide at least two methods to contact you (for example, if you gave us a tumblr and twitter account it'd be perfectly fine).

The current ship team roster has just names and no way contact or see who the other members are. Since teams are encouraged to get in communication with each other as soon as possible to set up a game plan, it seems like that might be a barrier unless people know the other team members already. Will contact information be distributed privately, or did I just miss something?

There's no set procedure because it depends. If I confirm they all follow each other or something, I won't post any contact info. I've been tagging teams in a tweet if they're all on twitter. But if they're on tumblr, dreamwidth, or provided emails, I'll just message.

It's sorta private-ish, I suppose. Thanks for asking!

In the case of a multimedia project without a composer on team, would royalty free music be alright?
Also, by fanmixes do you mean mixtapes/playlists, or do you mean full on fan-compositions/remixes?

Perfectly fine. And if we're talking about stuff like AMV's and fanmixes (I was referring to mixtapes/playlists but the other types are fine) is a-okay.

Like you can use any song, you just can't pick up an amv off youtube or a fanmix off 8tracks and call it your own, get me?
